Mixed Results
Both Bombers soccer teams did a little winning and a little losing this weekend. The men lost 1-0 to Plymouth State on Saturday, but bounced back to dispatch Fitchburg State today.
Fernando Casanova and Jeff Geyer scored goals for the Bombers (1-1-1).
The women followed up Friday night's win at Gettysburg by seizing a short-lived lead on #1 Messiah. Rachel Palladino, the former Lansing High School standout, scored seven minutes in to put the Bombers in front and end the Falcons nearly 800-minute shutout streak. Messiah controlled things the rest of the way however, and came away with a 4-1 win, dropping Ithaca to 1-1.

#9 Women Win Opener
Gettysburg (0-1) held off ninth ranked Ithaca College Women's Soccer for 85 minutes. The Bombers consistent pressure eventually proved too much as the favorites emerged with a 1-0 win. The win is Ithaca Head Coach Mindy Quigg's 200th coaching victory at Ithaca.
Amy Scheffer scored with 4:01 remaining in regulation in a game the Bombers controlled beginning to end. Ithaca out-shot Gettysburg 24-3, had 14 corner kicks, and only required one save from keeper Alyssa Sotomayor. Allie Rivera had 10 saves in defeat.
Ithaca takes on defending national champion and top-ranked Messiah tomorrow.

Scoring WithDRAWal
The Men's Soccer team opened the 2009 season with a 0-0 draw at SUNY Geneseo. The Bombers, looking to return to the NCAA tournament for a second consecutive season, were out-shot 15-nine, but managed to evade putting a stick in the loss column.
Junior Justin Parlapiano, a transfer from Sacred Heart University, made seven saves in his Bombers debut. Ithaca fans probably wondered how the Bombers would fair with the graduation of Andy Wilhelm in the net, but Parlapiano was more than up to the challenge. Five of his saves came in the second half.
Ithaca will be back on the field on Saturday at the Turfer Classic against Plymouth State. On Sunday they will face either Fitchburg State or Roger Williams University.
The Women's Soccer team opens on Friday at Gettysburg, then heads to defending national champion Messiah on Saturday.
